Busy Thanksgiving Weekend

Multiple Structure Fires

High Point Fire District volunteers were busy throughout the Thanksgiving weekend, responding to multiple incidents, including arson fires.

On Thursday afternoon, firefighters responded to a minor vehicle crash at the intersection of SC-9 and Honeysuckle Ln. Firefighters then responded to a brush fire on North Arant St. which had been ignited by someone burning trash in a plastic barrel.

The following day, Friday morning, firefighters assisted Sandhills Fire Department with a structure fire that affected two buildings and is suspected to be the work of an arsonist. Later that afternoon, firefighters responded to a grass fire at the intersection of SC-207 and Laney Rd.

On Saturday morning, firefighters were dispatched to another suspected arson incident—a structure fire located at the intersection of High Point Church Rd. and Dewitt Lowery Rd. That afternoon, they responded to a dumpster fire at the Pageland Convenience Center.

On Sunday, firefighters responded to a structure fire at the intersection of SC-9 and Hills Creek Rd. Upon arrival, they discovered several burn spots surrounding the building, as well as a smoldering piece of furniture inside. An adult male found at the scene was later arrested. The afternoon concluded with a response to Pageland Airport, where firefighters set up a landing zone for an inbound medical helicopter.
