Tractor Trailer Fire

The volunteers of High Point Fire District responded to a commercial vehicle fire at the Market gas station on Highway 601 North. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the trailer brakes of a tractor trailer had overheated and ignited. The driver had made an initial attempt to extinguish the flames using a fire extinguisher; however, the fire had reignited.

Engine 11 deployed a hose line to cool the brakes. A thermal imager was utilized to evaluate the temperature of the affected brakes. After confirming that the brakes were sufficiently cooled, firefighters returned the truck to the driver, who was then able to arrange for necessary repairs.
