Landing Zone Class

High Point Fire District hosted a Landing Zone class conducted by MedCenter Air. In the classroom firefighters learned how to select a suitable landing location as well as how to mark hazards not easily seen from the air such as power lines.
Firefighters then set up a landing zone behind the station for the arrival of the Wadesboro base helicopter. Firefighters learned how to approach the helicopter, how to open emergency access locations, and how to assist the crew with patient loading.
As you can see from the pictures it’s a tight fit for patients and crew.
