The volunteers of High Point Fire District responded to a brush fire that threatened a residential property. Upon arrival of Engine 51, firefighters encountered a wind-driven blaze that had already ignited the siding of the home. Firefighters deployed a hose line, extinguishing the flames on the siding.
Firefighters then redirected the hose line to combat the fire spreading toward another home. Brush 13 and Engine 11, arrived on the scene and worked collaboratively to contain the fire on all fronts.
To protect a vehicle that could not be relocated out of the fire's path, firefighters employed hand tools to create a fire break around it. Once the fire was successfully contained, crews saturated the entire area with water to eliminate any potential for reignition.
The fire was caused by wind driven embers from a burn barrel used to burn household garbage.
